PriceLens is a browser extension that helps you make better purchasing decisions on Amazon. It analyzes price trends, detects fake discounts, rates deals and sends you price-drop alerts when you ask for them. This policy explains what data we collect and why.

Who is responsible

Information we collect

• Product page browsing. When you open an Amazon product page, the extension sends our server the product identifier (ASIN), the displayed price and the Amazon domain (e.g. amazon.com). This data is anonymous and is not linked to your identity.
• Email alerts (optional). If you enable email alerts, we collect your email address, a random installation identifier, and your alert details (ASIN, domain, price threshold, product title, currency).
• Browser alerts. Managed with anonymous tokens that are not linked to your identity.
• Feedback. If you write to us through the in-extension form, we receive your message without any identifier.
• Feature usage (anonymous). When you click a button that leads to Amazon (for example "View on Amazon"), we count that click in an anonymous, aggregated way, together with the Amazon domain. This tells us which features are most useful. These counters are not linked to your identity and do not record which product you clicked.
• Data stored on your device. Your settings, alerts, installation identifier and last viewed product are stored locally in your browser and do not leave your device, except in the cases described above.

Background price checks

For items you have placed on alert, the extension periodically (about once an hour) fetches the corresponding Amazon page in the background to check the price. This applies only to items you have explicitly chosen to track.

How we use your data

To analyze prices and detect fake discounts, send the alerts you request, improve data accuracy and update frequency, and operate the service. We never sell your information and we do not show ads.

Affiliate links

When you click "View on Amazon" through our assistant, we may receive a commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the service. We do not track your purchases beyond what Amazon's own affiliate program reports to us.

Service providers

We rely on providers that may process data outside Québec/Canada:

• Cloudflare (hosting and storage);
• Resend (sending alert emails — receives your address and the message content);
• Zoho (receiving emails sent to info@pricelens.ca).

Retention

Email-related data is kept while your subscription is active (with an inactivity limit of about 18 months). You can request deletion at any time.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction or deletion of your information, or withdraw your consent, by writing to info@pricelens.ca. You can also unsubscribe from emails using the link in every email we send.

Security

Confirmation and unsubscribe links are cryptographically signed. We do not store passwords.

Who this extension is for

PriceLens is intended for adults. Since it is an Amazon shopping tool and Amazon itself requires users to be of legal age, we assume our users are adults (18 or older in most countries).

Limitation of liability

The price trend data displayed by PriceLens is provided for informational purposes only. It comes from third-party sources and may be incomplete, inaccurate or not up to date. PriceLens is a decision-support tool: it gives you insight, but the final judgment is yours. We accept no responsibility for any purchasing decision made on the basis of this information.

We may update this policy; the update date appears at the top of this page.
